Support Groups
Desi Rainbow Parents & Allies works to provide affirming spaces for South Asian LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families to talk about issues related to gender identity and sexual orientation. We all come from different circumstances and backgrounds, but we share the desire to find culturally sensitive support that will help our family stay whole and healthy. DRPA offers two support groups to best suit your needs.
LGBTQIA+ people need support when their family does not understand or support their identity.
Families need support to navigate the complicated journey towards accepting and affirming their child’s identity.
Some need peer support from someone who has experienced a similar life trajectory and can listen, support and offer referrals.
Education
The Desi community often reacts with shame and embarrassment and stigma when confronted with LGBTQIA+ identity. We provide educational opportunities for families and allies to learn about topics, language and actions that can support the community.
DRPA invites guests to discuss various topics in our Speaker Series.
We also hold monthly group meetings for allies to teach them how to better support the community.

Desi Rainbow Story Time
We want to offer a playful, fun and affirming virtual community space for all children and their families, as well as allies, with our Desi Rainbow Story Time program.
We have partnered with Desi Drag artists who will read a variety of children’s books to a live audience. Drag artists embody the creative expression of gender and imaginative play, and we are lucky to have artists from all over the US and Canada who are enthusiastically participating in this program.
