Saathi Peer Support

Sometimes, we all need a friend to listen to our concerns, reassure us and offer us a helping hand with information and support. For many Desi LGBTQIA+ folks and for parents and families of LGBTQIA+ folks, that’s not easy to find.

For those who need peer support from someone who has experienced a similar life trajectory, we offer a Saathi (friend), someone who can listen, support and offer referrals. The Saathi program consists of Desi Rainbow volunteers who themselves identify as LGBTQIA+ or are parents and family members of an LGBTQIA+ child.

All Saathi volunteers are themselves LGBTQIA+ or parents and allies, and can only offer peer support. While we will do our best to match you with a volunteer with similar experience, we cannot guarantee it. We do not offer advice on medical, legal or mental health issues. Desi Rainbow is currently only able to serve folks who live primarily in North America. As a mostly volunteer-operated organization, our capacity is limited.
